Entry from: Rome, Italy Entry Title: "Rome" Entry: "DAY 1 We arrived in Rome late in the day at the horrendously crowded Roma Termini station. After some initial confusion we located our hotel, which was about five minutes from the station. The hotel itself gave off a sort of "Bates Motel" feeling, with the manager living there with his elderly mother. Also, as far as I could tell we were the only ones staying there. Even with this strange air about the place it was perfectly clean and livable. That night we walked down to the Coliseum and Constantine's Arch which were lit up with floodlights, giving it a neat effect. We also ate at a good Italian restaurant near the Domus Area, the ruin of the large house built by the emperor Nero. After our dinner the owner even gave us each a free shot of Limoncello (I drank both mine and Michelle's). Since it was already late we left the major sightseeing for the following two days. DAY 2 For our first full day in Rome we decided to concentrate on the ancient part of Rome and leave Vatican City for the next day. We started at Piazza Campodiglio, which overlooks the Roman Forum and was a good way to get perspective on the ruins we were about to explore.
